A lone pysanka (wax-resist decorated Easter egg) adorns one wall in the Gallery, reminding us of the beauty that can still be created during this terrible Russian invasion of Ukraine because it was crafted by Oleh Kirashchuk, who “writes” these masterpieces while fighting on the front lines.

Oleh Kirashchuk 

A pysankar (Easter egg artist) from Kolomyia, whose work goes beyond traditional pysanky. His compositions are based on his knowledge of classical Pokuttia designs. His intricate creations have inspired the French fashion house Gucci. A volunteer defender since 2014 and currently a soldier in the 10th Brigade, he serves on the front lines and creates pysanky before Easter for his comrades and to raise funds for drones.
