80 Years of the Museum: One Night to Remember!

On Friday October 25, 2024, St. Volodymyr Institute was abuzz as we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada – Ontario Branch with a cocktail party and exhibition opening. Guests were the first to explore Making a Museum: Safeguarding • Sharing • Celebrating!, an inspiring new exhibit showcasing our 80 year history.

The evening featured heartfelt remarks from UMCO President Laurisa Hrycyna, Exhibition Curator Daria Diakowsky, and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. Mayor Chow reflected on the importance of preserving culture during times of conflict and praised the Museum’s mission of safeguarding Ukrainian heritage.

The event also featured a silent auction fundraiser — thank you to our generous donors and bidders whose support helps sustain our mission.

A huge thank-you to all our sponsors, volunteers, and the entire community for making this unforgettable night possible. Scroll through the gallery below to relive the celebration!
