Making a Museum: The Photographic Exhibition
July 15 to August 22, 2025
What’s in a photograph? A moment in time, caught between light and memory, a story quietly waiting to be told. Photography captures people, places, and emotions just as they were — preserving the feeling of a time, not just its details. Unlike an artifact, a photograph offers a small visual window into the past, inviting us to imagine the lives unfolding, just beyond the frame.
While working on Making A Museum, we discovered several boxes of vintage slides in our archives. As we opened these boxes filled with hundreds of delicate images, one thing stood out — the people. Volunteers, visitors, artists, and community members filled each frame with energy, care, and purpose. These photographs offered a more intimate, human connection to our past, and we felt they deserved to be shared on their own — in a dedicated space where each face could speak for itself.
This exhibit was thoughtfully conceptualized and curated by our seasonal staff member, Logan Rayment, whose creative vision and deep appreciation for community storytelling brought these archival images into new focus. We’re grateful for Logan’s work in helping us honour the spirit and legacy of the Museum. This collection gently captures the spirit of the Making A Museum exhibition, inviting us to pause and reflect on our 80-year journey and the many hands and hearts that built it.
Making a Museum: The Photographic Exhibition will be on view until August 22, 2025 — a warm invitation to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the legacy of our Museum as we quietly prepare for our upcoming exhibition in September.
