To all the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and godmothers out there, we celebrate YOU! Your love, strength, and wisdom enrich our lives in countless ways, and we are endlessly grateful for all that you do.

At our Museum, we honour not only the mothers in our lives but also the generations before us whose hard work and dedication laid the foundation for our existence. Like the intricate embroidery of a vyshyvanka or the delicate craftsmanship of an artifact, your nurturing care has shaped us into who we are today.

May your day be filled with радість (joy), сміх (laughter), and the тепло (warmth) of family. З Днем Матері!

💙💛 Vyshyvanka Day

Vyshyvanka Day is observed globally every third Thursday of May, with this year's celebration falling on May 16th. On this occasion, Ukrainians and supporters of Ukraine proudly don vyshyvanky (Ukrainian embroidered shirts), showcasing solidarity and unity with the Ukrainian people.

The vyshyvanka carries profound significance, embodying Ukrainian heritage, dignity, and resilience in the face of challenges. It serves as a powerful symbol of cultural identity and strength and represents Ukraine’s rich and diverse ethnography. From the Carpathian Mountains to the fertile plains of Polissia, each embroidered motif tells a story of tradition and craftsmanship, weaving together the vibrant threads of Ukraine's collective history.

We hope to see you at the UCC-Toronto Vyshyvanka Day Parade on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30pm, starting at Bloor & Jane streets.

CALL FOR DIRECTORS

The Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch will be holding its annual meeting on June 12, 2024 at 7 pm at which time the new slate for Board of Directors will be presented.

Board members are the backbone of the Museum who steer our organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the Museum has adequate resources to advance its mission. The volunteer Board of Directors serves two-year terms.

If you are interested in a position on the Board, please send us some information about yourself. Tell us why you would like to be a director and what strengths and experiences you would bring to the Board and Museum. We are especially interested in fund raising, accounting or curatorial experience.
