On February 22, 2025, we mark the third anniversary of russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch stands in solidarity with Ukraine as we reflect on the immense challenges, sacrifices, and unwavering strength of the Ukrainian people during these years of unprovoked aggression.

We honour the resilience and bravery of the Ukrainian people and mourn the countless lives lost in this unjust war, holding their sacrifice in our hearts. We pray for those living under russian occupation and in captivity. As Canadians πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦, we deeply value freedom and democracy β€” principles that unite us in supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and its fight for justice and independence.

Cotillions were presented to soldiers departing for war by their sweethearts, intended to offer them protection during battle. These tokens often featured nationalist Ukrainian symbols, such as the tryzub.
 

Three Years:
Ukraine Illustrated

To commemorate three years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, St. Volodymyr Institute and the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch present Three Years: Ukraine Illustrated, an exhibition featuring eleven artworks from Ukraine Illustrated. Originally displayed as a window exhibition in 2022, this collection was created in response to russia’s ongoing hybrid war against Ukraine. The featured posters are by Pictoric, a Kyiv-based illustration collective of Ukrainian illustrators, graphic designers, and artists. Now on view in the Art Exhibit and Meeting Room at SVI.

This exhibition honours the Museum's founders and their ongoing contributions over eight decades. It showcases treasured and rarely displayed artifacts, telling the story of our donors, collection, and diaspora while highlighting the Museum's rich history.

On Sunday, February 23rd, please join us at 3 PM at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto to commemorate the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Bring your flags, signs, and loved ones. Your presence is powerful β€” together we will stand, remember, and raise our voices for justice and peace.

Donations can be made to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, Canada-Ukraine Foundation to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine quickly and efficiently.
