Delegates from Ukraine visit our Museum

On Friday, October 18, 2024, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation held a reception at St. Volodymyr Institute to welcome the Government of Ukraine Delegation on Mental Health. The delegation took the opportunity of this occasion to visit our Museum.

During their visit, the delegation received a preview of our upcoming exhibition, Making a Museum, and learned about our Museum’s 80-year history and mission to preserve Ukrainian culture in Canada.

Exhibition Curator and Director Daria Diakowsky led a tour of the Museum, showcasing one of our oldest artifacts, a Podillian kylym with an extraordinary story dating back to the early 1700s. Selected artifacts from our 2020-21 exhibition, Sharing Our Stories, which featured Indigenous and Ukrainian beadwork were also displayed.

Gifts were exchanged between the Ukrainian delegation and the Museum as tokens of appreciation for the visit.

We are always grateful to host guests at our Museum, especially visitors from Ukraine, as we actively strive to strengthen the cultural bonds between Ukraine and the Ukrainian-Canadian diaspora.
